Obtaining X-Token for Plex

The process overview is

  • Sign in to your Plex account in Plex Web App.
  • Browse to a library item and view the XML for it.
  • Look in the URL and find the token as the X-Plex-Token value.

Step 2 was the one the I got held up on. Links are at the bottom of where I pulled this from

  1. Just go to the library

2. With music you need to navigate to a song which the ‘media’ to find the 3 dots

3. This opens the menu to get to the ‘Get Info’ option

4. From this pop up you can now see the option to view the XML

5. This will open the XML, but you need the URL from the TOP

The result is something like

“https://10-10-10-2.77633e7c075d4e3788f8856af59ab0bb.plex.direct:32400/library/metadata/1540?checkFiles=1&includeAllCo<…….>ces=1&includeRelated=1&includeRelatedCount=1&includeReviews=1&includeStations=1&X-Plex-Token=TLWyD24r5u5Q9kg8sqR5″

thus my token is

X-Plex-Token=TLWyD24rsdRQ9kg8sqR5
