The Civil War Trust (1156 15th Street NW, Suite 900 Washington DC) publishes a magazine, Hallowed Ground, in support of their efforts to save America’s Battlefields. I was contacted about a year ago after they found a photo on this website of the Cool Springs Battle field, that I took. They were wondering if I was willing to donate the photograph to the publication. I was honored that they were willing to use a photo of mine.
In early summer they reached out with a list of battle fields that they were going to write articles asking a few photographers if they would donate time and photos of the locations. Joan and I took a VA-cation and went to Petersburg Historic Battle field to gather some photos for the up coming articles.
I learned so much more about the Civil War and what Petersburg played in the down fall of Richmond, the Confederate Capital.
I was also pleased that they selected two more of my photographs for the fall issue of “Hallowed Ground” magazine.
If you see the magazine, please pick it up, it supports a great effort.
Here are the full set of photos that Joan and I took wondering around Petersburg VA.
